  • From 1999-2003, Liberia endured a harsh civil war. It is widely believed that the war may have contributed to the increase in disability in Liberia from an initially reported 16% in 1997 to nearly 20%, which is significantly higher than the world’s average of 10%. Of those with disabilities in Liberia, “61% have mobility/physical disability, 24% are visually impaired, 7% are deaf, and 8% have an intellectual or psychosocial disability.”

House of Caring Hands, Inc. Feeding Program, targeted two hundred (200) persons living with disabilities (as direct beneficiaries) and over three hundred (300) persons (as indirect beneficiaries) in Monrovia, Montserrado County and Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County, Republic of Liberia.
